On the twelfth day of Christmas, the Hero gave to meeeee

Twelve songs for playin’,

Eleven tears for grabbin’,

Ten heart containers,

Nine creepy dungeons,

Eight instruments soundin’,

Seven captured maidens,

Six sage medallions,

Four Sword clones,

Three more days,

Two charts to go,

And a kiss for Tumblr under the mistletoe! <3

Merry Christmas followers, from Link and Link Making Faces!!

This was really clever.

To anyone who’s puzzled by the revealed timeline for the Legend Of Zelda series, i’ve tried breaking it down as best i can:

Right i’ll break this down as best i can for my own benefit and yours, let’s see how on the money i get:

Skyward Sword has an original Link, or rather, THE original Link according to the timeline that takes place before all current Zelda games in the land of Skyloft & Hyrule simultaneously, this is what is known as the original adventure.

His successor (we’ll call Minish Link) then goes into the Minish World, this is preceded by The Four Swords & Four Swords Adventures stories which take place one after the other (ignore the timeline from this point on)

Minish Links successor somewhere down the line is The Hero Of Time from Oot (unsure of whether he is a direct descendant since his Hylian parents abandoned him in the Kokiri forest as a baby), when that adventure ends, the timeline is altered back to normal so that he never fights Ganon as an adult and he relives his days as a child, going off to find “an old friend” in Termina, which is an alternate universe.

Because he entered an alternate universe, his timeline has split.

The Hero Of Times story ends here, and 100 years pass before the events of Twilight Princess take place, with a new Link in a land called Ordon. Twilight Princess’ Link finishes the original timeline.

Wind Waker, is a parallell story (these are all facts from long before this timeline was released) that takes place more than a century after the events of Oot. The reason for the alternate timeline being that when he sealed Ganon away as an adult, the time stream was corrected and Link got to relive his childhood years, thus creating split timelines where he failed, where he grew up & evidently where he didn’t (yeah i don’t get that part either, this isn’t a perfect analysis.)

Phantom Hourglass is a direct sequel to the events in Wind Waker and as such they have the same Link in the same Land. This timeline ends with Spirit Tracks (so far) which takes place 100 years on a supercontinent far away from the setting of Wink Waker, it’s set after the events of Phantom Hourglass with a direct descendant of the Wind Waker/Phantom Hourglass’ version of Link. That is the parallell timeline to the Majoras Mask, Twilight Princess & Four Swords series.

Right, wrap your heads around that while i work on the third branch.
